| Altered Art Projects
Artists seem to be especially adept at finding their own individual meaning
for anything they decide to label altered. Some artists may say, that's not
altered or another may say that is definitely altered or still another
artist might think, that's sort of altered to the same piece of artwork. We
decided to create a book titled ALTERED! that would attract all types of
artists, from scrapbookers to those who do mixed media and assemblage
artwork. Impossible you say? If we simply look at altered as something that
has changed from the original concept, every work on every page falls under
that category. A simple canvas or a photo has a complete metamorphism just
like a caterpillar to a butterfly... tear, distress, texture, collage,
surround with mementos, add embellishments and ephemera; enclose in a frame
or shadowbox and voila ALTERED! It is no longer a simple canvas or the same
photo. The artists bring new life by the changes they add. And with the
saturation of inspiration and creativity, the piece becomes not only
something changed but something more meaningful. That is part of the artists
gift to us. We thank them profusely for that, for without thinking beyond
what is initially seen, there would be no altered art form. We cant wait for
you to feast your eyes on the breathtaking collection of all the fabulous
altered art featured in this book: birdhouses, shadow boxes, window panes,
wooden hearts, bowls, framed collages, scrapbook pages, boxes, assemblages,
clipboards and much more. 112 pages |
